Blog Trackbacks
I’ve been on the internet for awhile now, and I’ve seen SEO and such go from techniques like filling a page of black on black text full of random words in hopes that search engines will see it, to HTML-Meta tags, which are always a good idea, and more recently there have been tags, which anyone can use to describe their article/picture for easy reference. Well now I’ve just discovered this thing called Trackbacks. Trackbacks are like an automated comment maker. When you link to someone else’s blog, their blog may accept a trackback ping, and that blog’s comments will say something like “so and so has made a post on their blog about you.” Which in theory does not do much for SEO, but it does get your name out there a bit.
So if you find a blog article you enjoy, go ahead and link to it when you make a post on your own blog. You will be spreading your name and that blog’s name around. Sort of like a friendly referral network of sorts. You can read more about trackbacks here on problogger.com
