A long and heated debate…Ninjas vs. Pirates

March 9th, 2007 | 2 Comments »

So, I dont know when this was started or even why. I dont see much of a contest here. But for some reason there has been a debate going on around the internet for quite some time now about which is better, Ninjas or Pirates. The reason I say that I dont see much contest is clear. How in the world could you ever compare a ninja against a pirate. Pirates are half blind, one-legged, drunk, stupid (with only limited exceptions.)

If anyone has insight or good websites which can be referenced for this debate I would LOVE to see them. When I get a moment I will update this with some websites I have found and a few opinions for each.

It seems in this world of mega corporations, there is a growing need for personal attention when dealing with important things in life. Often times you can hear people talking about how they hate talking to ‘machines.’ Huge corporations like Geico and State Farm have such large businesses that if they ‘fire’ a client because they got into an accident, they wont feel any impact from it. But when we are in a situation where we need a more personal connection, it helps to know that the company you are working with really cares for your business. This is where InsurancePortalOnline.com comes into play.

They aren’t a huge corporation. In fact, they are a small start-up company that has been around since April 2005. To some that may seem unimportant, but when you need that personal touch, a small company may be the way to go. It comes down to this, an insurance company is a big decision. There are many many companies that you can choose from. You need to be able to trust them without question. Sure, huge companies have the financial backing that can ensure that you will get your money if your ever hurt or at loss, but who wants to deal with people who are there just to rush the process of getting you your money and kicking you from their program? Wouldn’t it be better to work with someone who valued your business

Choosing insurance can be one of the most important decisions to make. InsurancePortalOnline.com can help you decide which type of insurance you will need. They have trained professionals who can guide you through the process to make sure you get what’s best for you. Because they are a small company, being very competitive is part of the game. They work very hard to get you the very best quote possible. You can read more about why you should choose them here.

Google Hacking! Increase Zoom Level

Well this is something I was happy about. It doesn’t work in all areas of the world, but sometimes I just want to zoom in as close as I can get. Maybe to see if my parent’s house is the same as it is now (Google’s photos are pretty old sometimes.) But someone was able to hack a URL and zoom in even further. Here is the linkage to the site that can explain it better and in good detail.

Blog Trackbacks

Posted by Ryan Barnes under Interesting Websites

I’ve been on the internet for awhile now, and I’ve seen SEO and such go from techniques like filling a page of black on black text full of random words in hopes that search engines will see it, to HTML-Meta tags, which are always a good idea, and more recently there have been tags, which anyone can use to describe their article/picture for easy reference. Well now I’ve just discovered this thing called Trackbacks. Trackbacks are like an automated comment maker. When you link to someone else’s blog, their blog may accept a trackback ping, and that blog’s comments will say something like “so and so has made a post on their blog about you.” Which in theory does not do much for SEO, but it does get your name out there a bit.

So if you find a blog article you enjoy, go ahead and link to it when you make a post on your own blog. You will be spreading your name and that blog’s name around. Sort of like a friendly referral network of sorts. You can read more about trackbacks here on problogger.com

Half-Life 2: Episode Two

Some of you may be into video games as much as I am, in which case you may already know about the latest installment of Half-Life 2 titled Episode Two. I wont go into a lot of detail about what it is going to be about, you can read about that here. What is very cool, is that Team Fortress 2 will be bundled with it!  If you’ve never played Team Fortress (TF, TF2) you really should grab a copy of Half-Life2 and pre-order your copy of Episode2. Team Fortress combines the traditional capture the flag with a class based system. You have a decent selection of character classes which all work together to defend your flag. Each class has different special skills which allow you to customize your team based upon it’s current need. For example, if you are playing against a team which has a lot of offense, having a couple engineers who can built sentry turrets near your flag would be a good idea. Or if there are a lot of snipers on the enemy team, use a spy to infiltrate their base and take them out.

You can grab a copy of HL2: Episode2 at any game store like gamestop or ebgames (really the same store, different name.) It will run you about $45 or so.

There is this really cool website called instructables.com, they have tutorials on how to make just about anything you can think of doing. Everything from food recipes, woodworking projects, electronic gizmos, and clothing patterns. It’s a great website. This weekend I am planning on making something from the website ( I hope ). When it’s done I will post some pictures or something from my attempt at making whatever it is we (my buddy Rusty) decide on.

Review of XS Energy Drink: Rootbeer Blast

March 7th, 2007 | 2 Comments »
Posted by Ryan Barnes under Energy Drinks

Out of the currently 7 flavors of XS Energy Drink, I have to say this is my favorite. While the flavor is not exactly like an IBC or A&W, the syrup used to make it is an actual syrup used to make root beer soda. The only reason it tastes a touch different is because they use artificial sweeteners. So it’s got 0 carbs, 0 sugars, and it actually tastes great. Being a big fan of rootbeer in the first place helps too! I have found that if you almost freeze it so it’s sorta slushy its really really good. This also goes great with ice cream to make a float. I have also found that if you use a vanilla liquor you can make an alcoholic drink flavored like a root beer float. Like the other flavors of XS, theses boast the *true* energy drink properties, which are a high concentration of B vitamins. All others out there are just expensive cans of super-soda. If you would like to buy this drink, I am an distributor of these drinks, which can be found on my website here.
